Genre survey, including cross-cultural literature, that focuses on responding to children?s literature through reading, writing, listening, speaking, and activities that emphasize selecting literature, teaching critical thinking, and integrating literature into the elementary curriculum.

Intensive study of the life and works of one author writing in English (courses offered under this rubric have included Chaucer, Milton, Faulkner, Joyce, Twain; less frequently, Conrad, Hemingway, Blake, Woolf, D.H. Lawrence, Welty).
